About Girlports

Girlports is a website for lesbians and bisexual women, published in English by Girlports Services Inc. Its purpose is to entertain and inform its users about travel and events of importance to lesbian and bisexual women, to provide a place for lesbian and bi women to share their travel experiences and to encourage these women to support lesbian communities around the world.

Girlports was launched by longtime journalist and traveller Tanya Churchmuch in September, 2007. Tanya was frustrated by the lack of easily accessible travel information for lesbians and bisexual women and decided to take the situation into her own hands. After many, many, many hours/weeks/months of hard work, Girlports was born. Girlports Services Inc., which publishes the Girlports website, is an independent, lesbian owned and operated company.

Girlports did not spring from Tanya’s loins without a lot of help along the way. This website was designed by the fantastic gang at Plank in Montreal, Canada. Check out their website at www.plankdesign.com to see the award-winning work they are doing for people like Michael Moore, Airborne Entertainment, Canada’s Governor General and others.

Tanya was also greatly assisted along the way by Rebecca Coggan from Exalt Creativity (www.exaltcreativity.com). Rebecca is an exceptional new media creative consultant who specializes in making a company or product more captivating and effective in a web and mobile context. She guided Tanya in determining the Girlports site and brand strategy, site features, mobile features and so much more.
