Amsterdam Gay Pride
Early Aug, 2010 (TBA)
For those of you tired of the traditional gay pride parades, Amsterdam provides the perfect antidote: the world’s only floating canal pride parade! This three-day party starts off on Friday with a number of outdoor street dance parties, including the popular dyke event on Paardenstraat. More than 350,00 show up for the Saturday canal parade (that’s almost half the population of Amsterdam!) and on Sunday there are more outdoor parties.
I'm getting ready to go! Just a few more days.

Hartjesdag
Mid-Aug, 2010 (TBA)
Although not strictly a gay and lesbian event, Hartjesdag, Amsterdam's annual cross-dressing carnival (!), has a strong queer element, especially visible in the parade that marches down the Zeedijk. It’s at the Queen’s Head on the Zeedijk where you’ll find the biggest bent boy/girl concentration, mixed among the straights who are just playing homo dress-up for the day. It always takes place on the 3rd weekend of August.
Netherlands Transgender Film Festival
Mid-May, 2011(TBA)
With the latest edition coming to an end in May, 2009, the next edition of this festival will take place in 2011. One of the rare festivals of its kind, there are usually about 20 films and videos, as well as workshops, performances and parties.
