COC Netherlands

COC is short for Cultuur en Ontspannings-Centrum, or Centre for Culture and Leisure. Founded in 1946, COC is the oldest LGBT organisation in the world.   Unfortunately they've now closed their community centre building, so all events previously held there have stopped.  This is a real shame as they used to hold a monthly dyke party that was one of the highlights of the local lesbian scene.  COC as an organisation still exists though, and works to promote LGBT rights across the Netherlands.

Gala Amsterdam

A volunteer LGBT organisation that was instrumental to the creation of the Pink Point (see "Other Fun Stuff"). They also organize a lot of the parties held at the Homomonument.

Gay & Lesbian Switchboard Nederland

Got any questions about lesbian life in Amsterdam, they’ve got the answers.  The website may be in Dutch, but operators usually speak English and can give you up-to-date info on where to go and what to do.

This map is hoplessly focused on gay men. It neglects all other genders in its adds and its general content :(

Gay Tourist Information Centre

Even though there is already the long-standing Pink Point (see below) that serves as an amazing LGBT tourist information stand, a new Gay Tourist Information Centre was launched in late 2009 in association with the Amsterdam tourist board.  Here you'll find all kinds of info on queer life in the city, and you can also pick up a free starter kit with tons of queer tourist info.

Pink Point

This is your first stop to LGBT Amsterdam: the official gay and lesbian information kiosk. What a great idea!  Staffed by volunteers, Pink Point is open year-round to help answer all your queer queries and help you feel at home in Amsterdam.  They also sell an amazing reference book called the Bent Guide to Amsterdam, which gives a fantastic overview of LGBT Amsterdam.  The Pink Point is located next to the Homomonument, a huge series of pink granite triangles to honor gays and lesbians who lost their lives during the Holocaust.  A number of parties also take place here throughout the year.  Their website also has a wealth of information you should not miss.  Great lesbian and event listings!

Located at the corner of Keizersgracht and Westermarkt streets at the foot of the Westerkerk (Wester Church).

This is more of a stand than a “centre”.

Underwater Amsterdam

This website has great listings of pretty much everything in the city.  They’ve even got a specific lesbian page, which has bar and ladies night listings, events, recreation, lodging, all kinds of stuff.
