Restaurants & Cafes

@Richard’s

Resto/pub for the gay boys that welcomes lesbians.  This spot is found in the heart of the gay village, on Silom Soi 2/1.  Their veranda is a great place for people-watching and some of the wait staff speak English.

Bug & Bee

Gay-owned, 24 hour café on Silom Road.  This is a relatively new spot, quite stylish and modern (meaning they’ve even got free wifi!) Bug & Bee also has a full menu with desserts, along with cheery wait staff.

Eat Me

Great name, great spot.  It’s more of a gay boy restaurant, but visiting lesbians and ex-pats also drop by this art café/restaurant.  Simple Thai food, yummy desserts and strong coffee are the menu staples here.

Hemlock

Delicious traditional Thai food in an upscale space with backpacker prices.  Though not exclusively an LGBT restaurant, toms and dees tend to drop by on the weekends for a meal or drink.  Great tea selection to boot.

Indy

Popular with the queer set, along with artists and students.  Once again, the girls seem to drop by more on the weekends.  Located just a few doors up from Hemlock (see above).  I don’t have the exact address, but if you ask along Phra Athit Road, they’ll tell you where it is.  If you know the exact address, please let us know.

Telephone

Telephone is probably the oldest gay resto/pub in Bangkok, open since 1987.  They only open in the evening as of 6 p.m., and serve a full menu of Thai and Western food.  Tons of gay boys, with the occasional lesbian tourist.

The China Journal

After spending any significant amount of time (or for some, just a few hours) in Bangkok, you’ll need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, and this is one of the best places you can find to do that.  A traditional Chinese tea-house, China Journal serves a variety of teas and light snacks.  There are now two locations, with the one on the 3rd floor of the Gayson complex attracting more women.

Gaysorn Plaza, 999 Ploenchit Rd.

Zub Zip

Lesbian-owned Thai-Chinese fusion restaurant that is especially popular with older tom-dee couples.  Great spot for Hong Kong noodles.
