Other Fun Stuff
All the Kings Men
“ATKM is an all female performance troupe dedicated to pushing the boundaries and exploring the stereotypes of gender identity through comedic and dramatic story telling set to music.” These drag kings perform regularly around town.
Big Moves
The Boston-based outfit of the San Francisco organization dedicated to size-positive dance. These are big girls who like to dance, want to dance and want you to dance too. Not only do they offer classes, but they also present a number of shows including their recent award-winning sci-fi extravaganza, Gargantua: Fear of a Fat Planet.
Boston Derby Dames
Boston’s women’s flat track roller derby league. Now readers of this site know I’m a huge fan of all-girl roller derby, and these Dames don’t let us down. With teams like Wicked Pissahs, Cosmonaughties and the Nutrcrackers, you don’t want to cross these ladies.
Boston Gay and Lesbian Contra Dancers
Another popular social dance craze, Contra’s great because you don’t necessarily need a partner. Beginners are welcome and all dances are taught earlier in the evening before everybody joins in for the big party.
Boston Uncommons
This is Boston’s Gay and Lesbian Square Dancing Club. To participate, you need to know the basic dance. If you don’t they offer courses, but they’re 14 weeks long, which is a bit much for your typical traveler.
Centre for New Words
“The Center for New Words is dedicated to a simple mission: To use the power and creativity of words and ideas to strengthen the voice of progressive and marginalized women in society,” and they do this in so many interesting ways. They hold a literary open mic for women every 2nd Friday of the month called Mouthful, host an alternative book group, author lecture series and more.

Gays for Patsy
“Country-western two-step, waltz, swing and line dancing for LGBT people & their friends. Lessons before every dance.”
Gender Crash (every other Thursday evening at Spontaneous Celebrations)
Bi-weekly open mike performance event in Jamaica Plain for queer/transgender/gender queers. “For poets/spoken wordsters/literary geeks/journal/writers/ queers/ transgender/gender queers,” this event has been running since 2000.

Greater Boston Women's Billiard Club
Lesbian pool club open to all. Visitors are welcome to their monthly club socials held at a local billiard hall, but you must be a member to join in on the weekly 8-ball league.
Huntington Theatre Company's Out & About Club
Here's a cool initiative from a "straight" theatre company. On select Thursday nights LGBT audience members gather for post-show receptions and behind-the-scenes peeks at the production. Just check the "programs and events" tab on the left hand side of the site and check out when the next Out & About club night takes place.

Inman Oasis
If some rest and relaxation is part of your itinerary in Boston, a visit to Inman Oasis may be called for. This lesbian-owned and operated spa focuses on massages and hot tubs. They even have two private hot tub rooms so you can have a pre-massage soak with your sweetie.

Lesbian Movieland
Boston/Jamaica Plain group for… you guessed it, lesbians who watch movies about lesbians! Hey, they’ve already got more almost 400 members and have had several outings since founding in January, 2007.
Lucy Parsons Center
“The Lucy Parsons Center is an independent, non-profit, radical bookstore and community space. We are run collectively by our volunteers—no bosses, no pay.” Not only will you find queer and feminist works here, but the Center hosts a weekly free film night that’s often of interest to women and other in-store events.

Monday Night Trivia! (Monday nights at James's Gate Restaurant and Pub)
Want to test your knowledge with a bunch of homos? Here’s your chance. Even though this isn’t billed as a queer event, many of the people who show up are.

Moving Violations Motorcycle Club
Wow. Who would’ve thought that Boston could handle two women’s motorcycle clubs? Moving Violations has been around for more than 20 years now, and usually has the honor of opening the annual dyke march.

Queer Bookworms of Boston
As the name states, this LGBT book club meets monthly to discuss various queer titles. Check their board for event dates and details.
Queer Soup Theatre
This traveling queer theatre group usually has a few works on the go, ready to present whenever and wherever possible, often with a part of the proceeds going to a good cause. This gang likes a good laugh with their message, so be ready for some fun.
Randolph Country Club
A name like this is kind of deceiving as Randolph Country Club is certainly no country club, but it is an LGBT entertainment complex of sorts, located about half-an hour outside of Boston. The RCC has been around since the late 1960s and is especially popular on weekend days as they have an Olympic size swimming pool and outdoor bar as well as a sun deck and volleyball court. It’s most fun when you’re a gang of friends who head out together.

Swingtime Boston
More Swing, Latin and Ballroom dancing for the LGBT community. Swingtime Boston tries to organize a monthly dance where all are welcome.
The History Project
Since 1980 a group of LGBT historians, archivists and activists have been collecting every scrap of info they can get their hands on in regards to the homo history of Boston. Unfortunately it is entirely volunteer-run, so there is no official archives space that people can visit. However, the History Project takes part in about 8-10 public lectures or presentations a year that they public are welcome to join.
The Theater Offensive
Boston’s professional LGBT theatre troupe. Not only do they hold a regular theatre season, but the Theater Offensive also presents the annual Out on the Edge Festival of Queer Theater. This is the rare queer theatre group that sees a majority of women in the audience, as the majority of the works presented are created by women.
