BAWL (Boston Alternative Women’s League) Softball
This lesbian softball league plays Sunday afternoons or evenings, May through August. Though you won’t be able to play, you can certainly drop by and watch a game, or watch the girls watching the game!
Beantown Central G+L Invitational Bowling League
This is the newbie of the LGBT bowling leagues. They play September through April, on Thursday nights.
Beantown North Invitational Bowling League
One of several gay and lesbian bowling leagues in Boston. This one has been around for more than twenty years now and plays every Tuesday from September through April.
Beantown South G+L Bowling League
When the Beantown North League got too bit, this group started up to take in the overflow. Beantown South also plays September-April, but on Wednesday nights.
Bicycling Lesbians Around Boston
Beyond cycling outings, these gals organize hikes, parties and other fun events.
Boston Boasts Squash League
The longest-running LGBT squash league in America (about 15 years now), they hold two round-robins each week. If you're coming to Boston for business or fun and are looking for a game, Boston Boasts can set you up.
Boston Gay Basketball League
As this is a true league, quick visitors to Boston can’t join in on a game of hoops. But if you’re around for an extended period of time, newbies are welcome. The Boston Gay Basketball League calls itself America’s largest gay basketball league (but in this case, gay means for both men and women. There are a number of separate women’s teams).
Boston Pink Pistols
For the gun totin’ queers, “the Pink Pistols are a social shooting organization friendly to those who identify with alternative sexualities.”
Boston Rampage
Boston’s semi-professional, women’s full contact football team. These gals are tough! Of course you can’t actually play with them, but you can certainly watch their games from the sidelines along with all of the other lesbians.
Boston Women’s Flag Football League
These gals play on Sundays, September through November. Unfortunately, guests aren’t invited to play, but they can most certainly cheer from the sidelines.
Chiltern Mountain Club
“New England’s largest gay and lesbian outdoor recreation club sponsors all types of outdoor sports activities. This includes hiking and backpacking as well as canoeing, camping, biking, rollerblading and volleyball. The only requirements are that the event be outdoor sports related and that it be open to all members.” Their website is presently under construction, so email for more info.
Frontrunners Boston
The Boston leg of this international LGBT jogging/walking group is going strong with two weekly outings: on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. Visitors are welcome.
Massachusetts Women Fly Fishers (MWFF)
"MWFF is a social organization for women who fly-fish. The purpose of MWFF is to fish, have fun and enjoy the camaraderie of other women who delight in the sport of fly-fishing. While not intended primarily as a "learn to fish" club, MWFF welcomes all ability levels, and offers a supportive environment wherein every member can improve her fly-fishing knowledge and skills."
OutRyders
There is tons of great skiing throughout New England, and if you're someone who'd like to hit the slopes with your LGBT friends, this is the group for you. Membership is a must, but they take care of most of the organization for these (mainly) weekend getaways.
Pride Sports Boston
Boston’s umbrella LGBT sports group association. Boston Pride organizes a number of events throughout the year, including the annual “Out at the Park” day, when hundreds of queers descend on Fenway Park for a Red Sox Game.
Tennis 4 All
Boston’s LGBT tennis league. Even though it’s usually members’ only, they also host open events where everybody is welcome, including visitors to Boston.
