Mother City Queer Project

This is a huge, week-long Queer Art Party Project, culminating with a costume ball considered one of main queer events of the year, attracting upwards of 10 000 people. Every year they choose a theme (past themes include Comic Books, Jungle Fever and it’s a Circus) and participants take their costume designs very seriously. A true original in the homo party circuit
Cape Town Pride

About 15 000 people participate in this annual, ten-day event. Beyond the parties (including at least a couple of them just for women), there’s a golf tournament, art exhibits, dinners and more.
Pink Loerie Mardi Gras
Early May, 2009 (TBA)
This four-day queer festival actually takes place in beautiful Knysna, South Africa (about a five hour drive from Cape Town), but tons of Cape Town women make the trek for this celebration . It’s parties galore, along with a parade and a huge women’s event called “Pink.”
