South African based information and resource site for all of Africa. The section on South Africa has excellent articles and news briefs about the present day situation for local gays and lesbians and keeps on top of all of the breaking news affecting the South African LGBT community.
Cape Town Lesbians
This is a Facebook group, but if you're looking for information on anything lesbian in Cape Town, you should definitely take a look. When you join the group they'll even send you a weekly newsletter with news on all upcoming events. An invaluable resource!
Joint Working Group
The Joint Working Group is an umbrella organisation of South African LGBT groups. One of their primary areas of work involves the promotion of lesbian visibility within the community.
Ladies Leisure
South African lesbian information site. The site's a bit tough to navigate and it’s hard to tell if things are up-to-date or not, but all the same there is some useful info to be found here.
Mamba Girl
This is a great resource for any woman considering a visit to South Africa. The site shows all of the latest news and hot spots for visitors and locals alike. Two thumbs up!
Out
"Given inadequate mainstream service provision, OUT provides direct health and mental health services to LGBT clients. It includes targeted HIV/AIDS work, direct health services at the OUT Clinic, a telephonic counseling and information line, face to face counseling, community building programmes and spaces, and support groups."
Triangle Project
“Triangle Project offers a wide range of services for the LGBT community. These include a variety of different health services, such as sexual health clinics, counselling, public education and training services, an Educator’s Awareness Project, community outreach and safe spaces, and facilities such as the Drop-In Centre and the Gay and Lesbian library.” Located just outside the Cape Town city centre, this community centre also operates an LGBT helpline and their website is extremely helpful.
