Afterglow (2nd Sunday of every month at Cleos)
Calling itself "an afternoon social for ladies", this monthly event goes from about 3 p.m. - 9 p.m. As to the vibe... it's going Bay Area, so expect a bit of that Oakland/San Fran feel with smooth hip hop and r'n'b.

Androgny Productions parties
Occasional dance parties for all those who feel the "andrognynous" label fits them best. This is a party for both gay men and women, but it's hosted by a lesbian. Especially popular with African-American women.
B.BLYSS! events
These professional party people host occasional, upscale lesbian events all across the city that are especially popular with African-American women.
Big Chicks
An eclectic mixed bar that attracts artsy types, bent boys and girls and your next-door neighbour. Enjoy owner Michelle Fire's superb art collection, the free buffet on Sunday afternoons (that’s right, all you can eat and free!!) and of course, the weekend dancing. Even though you'll always find the ladies here, the recently re-introduced Dyke Mic (Chicago's only lesbian open mic) happening on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month is a new special draw.

Chances (3rd Monday of the month at the Subterranean)
Hipster homocore party for all bent boys and girls. You know these kids are out to have fun when they’re still ready to roll on a Monday night! Of course, seeing as it is on a Monday, it can sometimes be hit and miss as to how busy the evening gets.

Dirty Girls (Thursday nights at Lakeview Broadcasting Company)
Slightly younger set (hey, this is a Thursday night party) gets down with fun music, cute girls and cheap drinks (try the $3 Dirty Slut cocktails for a kick.) They even sell tasty food in this hipster joint.

Long-running gay and lesbian hip hop and reggae club night that is especially popular with men, but also brings a good mix of women in. Just make sure you don't try to drop in on the 2nd Saturday of the month as it's the only weekend when the party doesn't happen.

Earth Tone Productions
These ladies host, promote or participate in various lesbian events across Chicago. No real dates or locations, they've just got a busy schedule all over. Earth Tone parties are especially popular with African American women.

FKA (1st Thursday of the month at Big Chicks)
Short for "Formerly Known As", which is also a reference to the super-successful underground party "Transmission", FKA is the party for all the cool queer kids in Chicago right now. Voted as best lesbian night out for 2008 by the Chicago Reader, FKA goes heavy for theme nights and the best in indie and pop dance music.

High Art Tuesdays (at the Leadway Bar and Grill)
This is a new event (launched April, 2008) in a resto-pub that also has a sideroom that serves as an art space. Each time they'll feature art by a different female creator, which looks especially great with a cocktail in hand. It's supposed to take place every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, but that's not 100% fixed right now, so check their Myspace page beforehand just in case.

Joie de Vine
Wine bar popular with the “L-Word” inspired lesbian crowd. It’s a lovely space with a long bar, exposed brick and wood beam ceilings and loungey design. Reviews are hit and miss though, from “absolute do-not-miss gem” to “snooty with rude service” so tell us what you think.

Pride weekend was great there. The drinks were strong, the music was good and the women were stunning. :)

Just Let Go (every Wednesday except the last of the month at Berlin)
Berlin is a total dance club that really attracts just about everybody, despite the fact that it's mainly a gay men's bar. But on Wednesdays, DJ Larissa takes over the turntables and it's a girls night out.

Lost & Found
The oldest lesbian bar in Chicago, and one of the oldest in the U.S., Lost and Found caters to the silver-haired lesbian set, but younger gals are always welcome. It can be a bit complicated to get in though, because (like in the olden days) they usually keep the door locked. You have to get buzzed in or let in by one of the nice pool-playing ladies, so knock hard.

Chicago
Off Chances (every 2nd Tuesday of the month at Danny’s)
Sister party of Chances. Same idea, different venue. Cool music, cool chicks, mixed in with the bent boys. Seeing as this is on a Tuesday night though, the crowds can sometimes be kinda sparse.
1951 W. Dickens Ave.
Chicago
Retro Flashback (Tuesdays at Hydrate)
Mainly a bar for boys, but on Tuesdays more of the gals show up for DJ Laura B’s Retro Flashback night where she spins tunes from the 80s and 90s.

Risqué Tuesdays (1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at Risqué Café)
This new, somewhat bi-weekly event takes place at the Risqué Café, an "American Craft Brews and Smoke House". That means they've got great beer and hearty meals, but it's been sexed-up in a way the ladies can appreciate with films like "Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill!" on the plasma screens and huge blow-up posters of burlesque-style hotties.

Chicago
Soaked Sundays (Sundays at Hydrate)
Mainly a bar for boys, but on Sundays the gals show up for the weekly dyke night. Newly launched in January, 2008, there's an open bar for the early girls from 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and after that it's cheap beer for the rest of the night.

Social Flare Productions
Usually happening once a month, either the last Friday or Saturday, Social Flare parties are brought to you by promoters Dana Lloyd and Erin Blake. The names alone probably mean nothing to most people, but Lloyd spent ten years working with the Club Skirts gang which is responsible for the hugely successful Dinah Shore Palm Springs party. Social Flare parties are slightly upscale and loungey, going for a total L Word clientele.
