Alice and Friends Vegetarian Cafe
Queer-friendly veggie/vegan joint and the Alice they're referring to is Alice in Wonderland. The specialty here is vegan versions of Pan-Asian food...Think Korean BBQ without the meat or Almond UnChicken. All the same it's the kind of place where even meat-eaters can be satisfied. Closed on Sundays.

Chicago (Vegetarian) Diner
A meatless twist on the traditional diner fare. Voted best veggie restaurant in Chicago by the readers of Time Out magazine, the Diner has been around for almost a quarter century now. Their vegan desserts are hugely popular, and sold in venues across town.

Feed
Lesbian owned and operated, Feed is a perfect place to, well, feed. Great Southern style recipes made with love are enough to keep any belly full. Their Red Velvet Cake and fried okra are constant hits. Great prices and BYOB to boot! Well worth the visit.

Kopi Café
Crunchy granola (mainly) vegetarian café in the heart of Andersonville, especially popular with the lesbian set. Great sandwiches like their tempeh burger and tofu "turkey" sandwich on challah keep them coming back. Sit down at one of their tables or take off your shoes and cuddle up on some pillows on their ground-level space.

La Tache
French speakers may find this a bit of a weird name for an upscale French-style bistro (“tache” is the French word for “stain”, as in “the dirty stain”, though it looks like the owners have taken it more as “the spot”, but that doesn’t really work because it refers to a spot as a stain, not a “hot spot”….) Nonetheless, this lesbian-owned and run restaurant was voted one of the 10 best new bistros in North America in Food and Wine magazine in 2003. Adding French twists to American cuisine keeps the ladies coming back for more.

Pause Café
Great spot for a coffee or snack, but the big draw for any traveler is the free wifi connection.

Tomboy
Well, with a name like that you know I’m ready for a visit. Tomboy is a surprisingly upscale, romantic restaurant going for the New York state of mind.

Great name, great eats. Small, charming resto brought to you by Michelle Fire of Big Chicks fame (see "Bars, Nights and Clubs). Located right next door to Big Chicks, Tweet goes heavy on organic, yet simple food. Especially popular are the breakfasts and brunches of buckwheat pancakes, breakfast burritos and Aebleskiver (Danish puff pastries served with maple syrup or honey). Free wifi is another bonus for travelers.

T’s Bar and Restaurant
A favorite with the Andersonville lesbians, T’s is the kind of pub you’re always looking for. Good eats, great space and friendly personnel.
