Other Fun Stuff
Assassination City Derby
Amazingly enough, there are two women’s roller derby leagues in Dallas (the second is the Dallas Derby Devils, below). Assassination City calls itself the “downtown derby league”, and goes for a gritty, urban feel.
Dallas Derby Devils
Roller derby is hugely popular in Dallas, and also more mainstream than in a lot of cities. All the same, your dykedar will still ping often when looking across the stands. One of the best parts about Dallas Derby Devil matches? They’re BYOB!!!
Dallas Diamonds
The Dallas team of the Women’s Women's Professional Football League. This is a full contact sport with some serious play. Buy tickets and cheer on the ladies!
Dukes of Dallas
A very popular drag king group that performs at least twice a month at Buddies II (check out bar listings for more info on that spot).
Gay Bingo Dallas
Super-popular, this once a month party is a great time and a fundraiser for the local LGBT community centre.
Gay Movie Night - Out Takes Dallas (every 2nd Thursday of the month)
Out Takes used to be the annual gay and lesbian film fest in Dallas, but in 2008 they ran into some problems. Not money issues, but volunteer issues. Nobody is paid to run the festival and there just weren't enough bodies to make it happen. So instead, Out Takes has decided to create a "season of film," showing one first run queer flick each month. Check their website for upcoming showings.
Landmark Magnolia Theatre
Great indie cinema that is home to the local gay and lesbian film fest and often shows films with a queer bent.

National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame
Located about half-an-hour outside of Dallas in Ft. Worth, this is the national institute recognizing the achievement of cowgirls going back more than a century. There’s a least a couple of lesbians who’ve been inducted into their hall of fame.

Once In A Blue Moon (2nd Saturday of the month at DanceMasters Ballroom)
Women-only social dancing group. “The flirting is infectious. The Blue Moon Dance is a social gathering for women only, nothing like the bar scene, in a non-smoking atmosphere. Average attendance is approximately a hundred women per dance. Do not know how to dance? That is not a problem; patrons will be more than willing to take you for a spin around the floor.”

Texas Twisters
For all gay and lesbian folk who love county and western dance. “We do line dances and all varieties of Country Western couples dance: Waltz, Two-step, Three-step, Shuffle, Cha-Cha, West and East Coast Swing. We hold dance clinics and workshops open to the general public; raise money for local charities. We have "social nights" where the club members show up at an area C&W club to dance, and we have the occasional party or two.”
Uptown Players
Very popular LGBT theatre company. “We offer diverse productions with contemporary and alternative lifestyle themes that explore complex and varied situations such as relationships, family, prejudice, and values. We present plays and musicals that challenge our audiences artistically, build cultural bridges, and strive to create greater positive public awareness and acceptance through the performing arts.”
Women’s Chorus of Dallas
A primarily lesbian chorus that performs regularly around town and on tour. They’ve recorded several albums and have even performed at New York’s Carnegie Hall!
Women’s Museum
This isn’t a museum of women’s art, but rather a museum celebrating women. “Using the latest technology and interactive media, the Museum's exhibits and programs expand our understanding of women's participation in shaping our nation's history and create a lively environment for dialogue and discovery. Thousands of stories recount public and private triumphs and the struggles of those who would be denied their freedoms in all its forms: political, social, and spiritual.” Not much lesbian content, but still a great look at the role of women through history.
