Dallas Frontrunners
The Dallas leg of the international LGBT running and walking association. Visitors are absolutely welcome to join up during any of the weekly runs.
Different Strokes Golf Association
“A golf league that organizes fun and competitive golf events for gay and lesbian golfers of all skill levels. DSGA was started in 1997 and boasts over 100 members.” They hit the greens usually twice a month and visitor are welcome to join them.
Diva Dallas
The local queer volleyball league. They’ve got teams of every level, from recreational to competitive.
North Texas Women’s Softball Association
The ladies here in Dallas take their softball quite seriously and even if you don’t play, stopping by to cheer your favorite team down at Trinity View Park is a verrrrry popular Sunday afternoon pastime. The season generally goes from April to July.
Oak Lawn Bowling Association
Even though you have to be part of a team to generally play (though you can join a league if you’re moving to town), on Monday nights there’s free LGBT bowling clinic open to all.
Oak Lawn Ski and Scuba Club
Not near any snow or deep seas, the group organizes recreational trips for the gay and lesbian community several times a year. They also host a dinner meeting once a month.
Oak Lawn Soccer Club
“A non-profit, predominantly gay & lesbian organization formed to provide its members a gay-friendly atmosphere in which to play and enjoy the game of soccer. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender or sexual orientation and welcome our straight friends.”
Oak Lawn Tennis Association
This gay and lesbian tennis association was formed all the way back in 1979! They’ve hosted the annual Texas Open since 1980, the first gay and lesbian tennis tournament in America.
Texas Gay Rodeo Association
Well, this is Texas, home of the cowgirl! This association is “dedicated to elevating the image of women and men in the field of rodeo. The purpose is to promote and stage an annual rodeo in Texas and to encourage the participation of its members in western-related events and to engage in charitable activities.” It’s all non-profit and they’ve donated more than $ 2 million to local gay and lesbian charities over the past 20 years.
