Other Fun Stuff
Alley Theatre ActOUT Mixers
During each different play of the theatre season, Alley Theatre hosts a special mixer party for LGBT patrons. Before the show itself, the local queer community meets up for cocktails, music and socializing, followed by the play. You must buy tickets in advance for that particular showing.

Gulf Coast Archive and Museum of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender History
“Although we have had to close the museum space, our archives are still available by appointment. Additionally, we do have a few satellite exhibits throughout the city and arrangements can be made for temporary ones for special functions.”
Houston Energy
Houston’s women’s professional football team. This is a new league that is gaining momentum across North America and these girls play for real. Go on out and support them as this is a league that is absolutely grassroots right now, but aiming for WNBA status.
Houston Pride Band
“Originally known as the Montrose Marching Band, the organization was formed by a small group of musicians in 1978 as a way to make new friends and to provide entertainment for Houston's gay and lesbian community.” The band plays several concerts a year in and around Houston.
Houston Roller Derby
I love roller derby anywhere, any day. Houston’s flat track women’s league is fairly developed with five teams (my favorite team name is the Machete Betties!), despite only having been around since 2005.
Rice Cinema
Houston's Rice University has a fantastic film program, but even better, the Rice Cinema is the place to see underground, indie and alternative films in the city. You'll often find flicks with LGBT or women's content and the films are open to the public.
