Bars, Nights & Clubs
801 Bourbon Street
Even though this is considered a gay men’s bar, in reality you’ll find a bit of everybody here, gay, lesbian, straight and all in between. The 801 is especially known for its drag shows, led by the lovely Sushi, and tipping the ladies is encouraged. If you’re around on Sunday, make sure to check out the 801’s gay bingo, which must be seen to be believed!

Aqua Nightclub
Aqua is pretty much the embodiment of life in Key West. It’s a gay bar, but in reality you’ll find just about everyone here. It’s gay-owned, has a lesbian assistant manager and bartender, and the clientele runs the gamut from as gay as it gets to very straight. Aqua is especially known for its nightly drag show, “Reality is a Drag!” Drag shows here involve a lot of interaction with the patrons, and stuffing an already stuffed bra with a few dollars as the gals pass by is expected. Sunday poker is also quite popular.

KWest (for Wednesday happy hour)
Seven days a week, KWest is basically a hard-core boy bar, but on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m., it’s a sing-a-long of Broadway Tunes with Bobby Nesbitt, and pretty much everybody drops by for the fun.

La Te Da
La Te Da is a bit of everything… bar, pub, restaurant, hotel, cabaret and dance spot for its very popular Sunday t-dances. On a Friday night, this is often the second place women will go to after Pearl’s Patio, but before heading out to the clubs. Here they serve light meals on their patio bar and bigger meals indoors. Named by Holly Woodlawn (of Andy Warhol fame), La Te Da is especially renowned for its Crystal Room Cabaret performances by the legendary Randy Roberts, a drag queen who doesn’t lip synch, but actually sings (very impressively!)

Pearl’s Patio
This is Key West’s only bar that’s just for women. It’s a lovely little outdoor spot that’s actually part of Pearl’s Rainbow, the lesbian resort, with a separate entrance just off of the main hotel entrance. Even though Pearl’s Patio is open all afternoons and evenings, it’s especially popular on Fridays when lots of local women drop by for an early evening drink, and then head off to other spots in town for the rest of the evening. Light meals are also available.
