Publications
Diva
Wonderful British monthly glossy just for lesbians, this mag is chock full of useful listings and articles. Advertisements will also give you the inside edge on local events and lesbian-friendly establishments. Available at book and magazine sellers across the U.K. (and you can probably pick this one up at your local LGBT bookstore back home) and their website is also worth checking out.
G3 Magazine
London’s local lesbian monthly, given out free in LGBT haunts across the city. You can also download the latest (and past) editions online. In their bar listings they even go so far as to give you the percentage of women present.
one80news
one80news has been a successful LGBT publication in Brighton since early 2007, and in November, 2008 they decided to create a London edition as well. Published twice weekly and distributed free (mainly in bars), this paper does real community coverage and avoids all of the sex ads seen so often in LGBT magazines and papers. The full edition can be downloaded online.
Pink Paper
Britain's longstanding LGBT newspaper, with a great focus on everything happening in London. This is an amazing publication you can pick up at gay spots around town, or download the latest version online.
Sister Magazine
A total newbie on the London lesbian scene, Sister presents an alternative take on girl culture. Sister "wants to be a meeting point where women can discuss feminist and political issues but also their own issues regarding gender and sexuality, providing information and knowledge about all the kinds of women that are out there and at the end of the day are part of the same community, a community that without unity is powerless." The magazine can be downloaded for free on their website.
Time Out London
Bringing you the best of London weekly, from arts to theatre to movies to clubbing they’ve got it all… and their gay and lesbian section is excellent. You’ll probably find some of the most interesting LGBT cultural events listed here before anywhere else… even better than some of the local gay and lesbian sites at times. Great both in the printed edition (£2.50 weekly) and online. Time Out London also prints an amazing Gay and Lesbian London guide that is an absolute dream for any tourist visiting the city.
