Balans
Voted best restaurant of 2006 by readers of G3, London’s lesbian magazine, Balans is a funky neighbourhood restaurant that offers good eats in nice surroundings in the heart of Soho. They’ve got a bit of everything on the menu, but what’s especially great about Balans is their hours. They open at 8:00 a.m. every day, but often stay open until the following morning at 5:00 a.m. If you’re looking for a full post-clubbing meal, here’s where you’ll find it.
60 Old Compton St.
Soho, London
Bar Italia
For more than a half-century, this 24-hour Italian coffee bar has been a Soho institution. Enjoy excellent espresso, pastries and paninis. Grab a seat outside if you can as the girl-watching opportunities are worth the price of the coffee alone.
22 Frith St.
Soho, London
Coffee, Cake & Kink
Pansexual eatery “where one can nibble cakes while browsing erotica. It also runs workshops, events and exhibitions and has made a great contribution towards the advancement of the erotic/kinky culture and the social acceptability of alternative lifestyles.”
61 Endell St.
Camden, London
Food For Thought
A cheap, veggie co-op, Food For Thought serves up hearty meals with vegetables, rice and (wheat-free) noodles. This is no glamour-pad and you may be expected to share a table with strangers during busy hours in this teeny basement restaurant, but the food and price make it more than worth it.
31 Neal St.
Camden, London
Lola’s
Crisp, clean and sleek bistro enjoyed by the professional lesbian set. Interesting variety of cuisine and the set menus are a total deal and especially enjoyable if you take it with the accompanying wines.

Mildred’s
A vegetarian/vegan resto off the main gay strip…. No wonder it’s popular with the lesbians! Enjoy salads, soups and full meals, all prepared with organic fare. Especially busy with the lunching ladies.
45 Lexington St.
Soho, London
Mint Leaf
Another establishment popular with the G3 girls, Mint Leaf is one of the new wave of higher class Indian restaurants that is taking London by storm. To boot, they’ve got a fantastic bar with a delightful selection of cocktails. One word of warning though, this is a pricey night out, so you may want to save it for a special evening with your sweetie.
Suffolk Place
Haymarket, London
Neal's Yard
For some of the best vegetarian and vegan treats in town, check out Neal’s. While not exclusively lesbian, dykes enjoy his meatless meals.

Pogo
100% vegan and mostly organic workers' co-operative cafe, catering to vegetarians, vegans, people with food allergies, and those concerned with healthy eating and fair trade.

Spitz Bar and Bistro
Located on the edge of the Old Spitalfields market, this laid-back spot is especially dyke popular for weekend brunch, but it’s not too shabby for the weekday lunch set either. Enjoy the various art exhibits in the bistro and if you’re stopping by for dinner, there’s a good chance you’ll be entertained by a live jazz band.
109 Commercial St.
Tower Hamlets, London
The Green
This upscale lounge/café/bar is open for lunch, brunch, dinner and cocktails. A swanky place to start the evening for both boys and girls. They actually advertise themselves as a mixed gay restaurant on their website!
74 Upper St.
Islington, London
The Star at Night Café
Starts the morning as a pub/café, then transforms into a lesbian cocktail bar, the Star at Night in evenings. During the day you’ll knock back a hearty fry-up, pasta or salads and as of 6 p.m. the pub/lounge will still serve some nibbles, as it morphs into a quiet, yet hip cocktail spot.
22 Great Chapel St.
Soho, London
Volupté
French for “sensual delight”, Volupté could go in a number of our listings. Here where you find it in “restaurants”, “bars and nightclubs” or even “other fun stuff.” That’s because you’ll find all of it in this one space where evening meals and Saturday afternoon tea are served up with a side dish of burlesque performance.
