Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Scientists
Well, if there can be LGBT sci-fi groups, why not an LGBT scientist group? This group of smarty-pants queers holds regular meetings, events and parties throughout the year.
madFEMMEprideLA
Taking its inspiration from hugely successful madFEMMEpride Boston, this is a new lesbian meet-up group with “no-attitude, 100% positive vibes, totally genuine gatherings for queers, especially girlie grrrls. we rock and we roll.” This group attracts a slightly younger gang than Women On a Roll (see below).

POWER UP
The aim of the Professional Organization of Women in Entertainment Reaching Up, is "to promote the visibility and integration of gay women in entertainment, the arts and all forms of media," often done through its film grant program. One of POWER UP’s highlights is its annual Ten Amazing Gay Women in Showbiz gala, which brings in all the top lesbian movers and shakers of the entertainment industry (and the ladies who love them!). While the organization is up-and-running and doing amazing work, their website is painfully out of date and their MySpace page is unreadable.

United Lesbians of African Heritage
ULOAH is dedicated to the visibility, unity and empowerment of lesbians of African heritage. They also hold an annual four-day black lesbian retreat, Sistahfest.
Women On a Roll
What started out as a lesbian cycling group in 1995 has grown into the largest and most successful lesbian social group in Southern California. Over the years the group has branched out, offering hiking, skiing, rafting, golfing, cultural outings, parties, dinners and dances, group excursions to concerts and sporting events, book readings, professional networking mixers and overseas travel…. Whew! Thousands of women have participated in WOAR events and hundreds of couples have met here as well.
