Helen of Troy Does Countertop Dancing
“This new night promises to play the coolest female artists, classic and contemporary, as well as providing a platform for female stars of the future to play. The music on our playlist will span genres and generations, from Patti Smith and Janis Joplin to PJ Harvey, The Ting Tings and M.I.A. You don’t have to be female or fiercely feminist to enjoy Helen Of Troy Does Countertop Dancing, you just have to enjoy fucking good music.” Check their Myspace page for upcoming dates.
New Union
For more than any other reason, you should stop by here for a pint simply because this is where Dusty Springfield used to canoodle with her girlfriend in the 1960’s. To boot, it’s a good place to hang with friends for a drink before going clubbing for the evening. Attracting quite a mixed gay and lesbian crowd, there’s usually one full-one lesbian night each month.

Poptastic (every Tuesday and Saturday at Alter Ego)
Mixed queer party that runs twice a week with 2 rooms for different types of music lovers. The first one of course being Pop and the other being Indie.

Queer
Well, the name certainly makes things clear! This huge lounge/bar/café is a great spot for a pint, a bite and some house music. The mix is about 70/30 male/female, so it’s a great place when you’re hanging with the boys.
1 Canal St.
Manchester
Vanilla
One of Manchester’s two lesbian bars, they offer an excellent party on weekends and most weeknights when they may have bands or some other kind of performances. Vanilla also hosts (at other venues), massive parties during pride and on other bank holiday weekends. Winner of best lesbian bar in Manchester for about a million years, this is where younger lesbians usually head to when clubbing.
