Resources & Information

Canal St.

An excellent source for all of the info of what’s happening on Canal St., the heart of Manchester’s gay village.  Their news updates are excellent, as are the women’s listings.  To find them, go to the “resources” tab and scroll down to the women’s section.

Manchester Lesbian Community Project

This is Manchester’s alternative queer centre (the main one being Lesbian & Gay Foundation, above), visited mainly by younger people, especially those who consider themselves more along the lines of punk, goth or underground.  There are tons of events here that are worth learning more about, from their queer reading group to the disabled lesbians group.

Pankhurst Centre

“A Women's Centre, with a gallery, cafe, workshop, training room, resource area with PC's and lots of information. They regularly run courses and sessions, e.g.; DIY and computer skills. The centre is open Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm.” The centre is of historical significance as it was the home of Emmeline Pankhurst and her daughters Sylvia, Christabel and Adela who were centrally involved in the campaign for votes for women.
