Miami Women’s International Film and Arts Festival
Mar 26 - Apr 2, 2010
"A unique cultural event featuring films, visual and performance arts and other artistic expressions by women. The events bring together women from all over the world to explore, share and dialogue about issues concerning women through arts."
Miami/Fort Lauderdale Gay and Lesbian Film Festival
Apr 23 - May 2, 2010
This used to be the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, but in 2008 they decided to expand it to both cities. This is actually a pretty good idea because so many gays and lesbians have now left Miami and moved to nearby Fort Lauderdale.
Aqua Girl
May 12 - May 16, 2010
Not only do you get to party with a couple thousand women in bikinis, you also give back to the community. Aqua girl is the number one dyke charity event in America, and all profits to straight back into the Aqua Foundation for Women, a nonprofit organization that supports lesbian, bisexual and transgender women in South Florida.
Sweet Heat — Updated
May 13 - May 16, 2010
Whew, May sure is lesbian month down in Miami! There are three huge, multi-day lesbian bashes happening.... Sweet Heat, which calls itself Miami's Pride for Women (seeing as this takes place on week before Sizzle, South Florida's Black Pride celebrations) and AquaGirl, the long-running (and very successful) women's circuit party.
Sizzle Her
May 27 - May 31, 2010
Sizzle is South Florida's annual Black Pride celebration, which attracts mostly men. In 2008, the women decided to launch their own party, and Sizzle Her was born. Taking place over Memorial Day weekend, this ends up being quite the party as it's organized by the women behind the very successful Atlanta Women Pride celebrations.

Pridelines Youth Prom
Mid-June, 2010 (TBA)
What a brilliant idea! Each year (this will be the 15th edition), Pridelines hosts a queer prom for youths aged 13-20. Exciting and original dress-up is encouraged, and nobody will look twice at the girl in a tux (which, I kid you not, I did wear to my prom... but it was a traditional straight prom and I was just considered a weirdo).
Miami Recognition Award Dinner
Mid-Oct, 2010 (TBA)
Extremely successful annual fundraising event for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force recognizing (generally straight) “leaders who work to ensure lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights through the democratic process.” There are more gay men than women here, but this is still a total “power lesbian” event with ticket prices starting at $190
