Cabaret Mado
Montreal’s number one drag bar, but not for your traditional Barbara, Liza and Whitney. Expect the unexpected with owner and chief drag queen Mado Lamotte. Mostly gay, but lesbians welcome. More ladies stop by earlier in the evening for a drink in the lounge which is surprisingly understated considering the later evening’s entertainment.

This place is more “kétaine”, slang for “kitsch”, than anything else. Lots of straight people too, especially for stagettes.

Cherry
A somewhat newish hipster hangout for all genders and orientations (from total straight to absolute homocore) in lovely Old Montreal. Never arrive before midnight or you'll be totally disappointed though.

Cirque de Boudoir
“Cirque De Boudoir combines elements of circus performance, burlesque and fetish, with unique themed electro dance dress-up parties. Eclectic and electric, Cirque De Boudoir's mission is to encourage creativity and sexual rebellion through glamorous events that attract the pretty and perverse.” These are one-off events held every few months in different venues across the city. Check the website for more details.
Faggity-Ass Fridays (usually one Friday a month at the Playhouse)
The Mile End is a totally lesbian neighbourhood, but until Faggity-Ass Fridays arrived, there was nowhere for the local queer community to party. Now once a month you'll find all the cool kids (and some of their older counterparts) shakin' their groove thing at the Playhouse. Performance is also a big part of this party, so count on an original show every now and then.

Fétiche Soirée
Occasional one-off pansexual fetish extravaganzas usually hosted at a club in the gay village.
Le Drugstore
This is a huge, multi-level, mainly lesbian complex with bars, boutiques, a restaurant and a great view of the gay village's main strip. To boot, it’s the city’s only official full-time dyke bar. The Friday after-work happy hour is especially popular with the ladies, but the clientele can be hit or miss at other moments of the week. I mostly appreciate this space in the summertime, enjoying a cool drink under a parasol on the rooftop.

Aaargh, this place is no fun and the girls... not so interesting unless it's summer.

There’s pool tables and video games on the lower deck!

Meow Mix (monthly at Sala Rossa)
Monthly Saturday night dance/performance parties for bent girls and their buddies. As someone who actually lives in Montreal, I can tell you that these are the best dyke parties in town, where all the cool girls converge. The evening always starts at 10:00 p.m. with some kind of performance, be it burlesque, drag or any other kind of theatrical extravaganza you could imagine. After that fun, the dancing begins. Check the website for upcoming dates.

Definitely my favorite alternative girls night out.

Parking Bar (on Thursday and Friday nights)
Almost exclusively filled with men on Saturdays, the Parking Bar draws in the younger hipster/electro lesbians on Thursday nights for the Overdose party, hosted by resident DJ (and lesbian) DJ Mini and some ladies for the Friday night party with resident lesbian DJ Taurus.

Piknic Electronik (Sundays during the summer months at Ile-St. Helene)
This summer Sunday t-dance isn’t necessarily gay or lesbian, but it certainly draws a lot of homos into the mix. Each week a couple thousand people head out to Ile-St. Helene on summer Sunday afternoons to dance outdoors in the sunshine (or the rain) to the hottest in electronica music. The party starts early, about 3 p.m., and usually finishes by about 9ish so the working stiffs can still get home in time for a good sleep before Monday morning rolls ‘round.

Bring a cooler! Everyone does and it’s perfect to keep all your drinks and food fresh in the heat.

Pink 28
An upscale monthly lounge night for "professional" lesbians, mainly in the 30+ age range. The evening officially starts as of 6 p.m., but it's more around 8ish when the place really starts to fill up. Usually held in a lovely, slightly upscale lounge on the main St-Laurent strip. This is the kind of night where women who don't often go out will meet up.
Sky
This mammoth queer complex is mainly for the boys, but you'll always find lots of lesbians here as well. The ladies tend to hang out in the hip hop room or the terrace in the summer months, but whenever there's the occasional Girlz in the Sky party, it's a packed party.
