Publications
2B
This is the only publication offering full English coverage of the local queer scene (and the Ottawa scene as well). It's quite boy-centric, but there are some good party listings to check out all the same. Distributed free throughout the gay village.
Etre
This used to be a bilingual, English-French publication, but has now switched into two separate publications, Etre and 2B (above). In Etre you'll find a lot of the same content found in 2B, but in French and not English.
Femmes Entre Elles
French Lesbian magazine published every two months. This magazine has been around for years and years, but it's not that easy to find... only at a few spots in the village. Unfortunately, they don't have a website either.
Fugues
This is the main LGBT monthly given out free all around town, but especially in the gay village. It’s in French with a few English articles. Mostly for gay men, but lesbians are represented as well. Much of their website is translated into English which is a real help for their listings guide.
Lickety Split Zine
This pro-feminist, polysexual “smut zine” quarterly encourages sex-positive expression and thought. What’s especially helpful though is the Licky Split blog (found when you click the “news” link) which often presents interesting, upcoming queer events around town.
RG (Revue Gai)
Another gay glossy handed out around town. Their website doesn’t offer much general info, but there’s a bit more in the hard copy edition. RG is also behind the bilingual book An Insiders Guide to Gay Quebec, which is primarily for men but also has some women’s info.
The Hour
One of the city's two free, alternative English-language weeklies. Also very queer-positive and helpful with homo listings. Check out 3 Dollar Bill, the regular queer column. New editions come out every Thursday.
The Mirror
This would be free, alternative, English-language weekly number two. These papers are very queer-positive and have regular LGBT listings of events.. In fact it’s often through these alternative publications that you’ll find the most-up-to-date homo info as all of the other queer mags are monthlies.
