Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Other Fun Stuff
Diana’s Tours
Without a doubt, this day-long gay and lesbian boat tour is one of the best things you can do during a stay in Puerto Vallarta. Run by Diana DeCoste, a fireball French-Canadian ex-pat, this excursion takes you and 40 of your closest gay and lesbian friends on an all-inclusive excursion with great food and a open bar. On my trip we saw dozens of dolphins so close we could touch them, a mother and baby whale, a mammoth manta ray and some amazing schools of fish. There are usually a lot more men than women, but Diana will always make you feel most welcome. Known as “the gay mayor of Puerto Vallarta” Diana also has the skinny on everything lesbian happening in town, and she’s more than happy to share her knowledge. If it’s high season, book your excursion online before you arrive because the trips are often sold out.
Definitely a must while in PV. Diana is amazing and the cruise was phenomenal. It was mostly guys but we had a blast anyway and met some great people!

This was one of the best days of my vacation. This tour was so much fun. Diana is such a sweet-heart. Her and her "bitches" are always making sure you have everything you need. Well, almost everything! On the day of our tour, we had dolphins swimming next to the boat, saw a baby sperm whale jump out of the water on several occasions, saw a giant sting ray, and many many other tropical fish. We saw on a private beach, bathed in the sun, ate some great food, and overall had just a great time. Definitely, a must do!

Los Veranos Canopy Tour
For those of you who enjoy a bit of “eco-travel”, the Los Veranos Canopy Tour is a great way to spend the afternoon. This zip line tour is the biggest in Mexico, and it’s lesbian-managed (by Sylvie from Vancouver) with several other lesbians also working there. So what’s zip lining you ask? Basically, you wear a harness and zip a few hundred metres along a cord between two trees….. about a hundred metres above ground! Yes, it may sound scary, but in reality it’s super-easy and a ton of fun. The tour is located about 45 minutes outside of the city, but a shuttle bus takes you to and from their PV office. Book online for slightly reduced rates.

Playa Los Muertos
The Los Muertos beach, especially in the area known as “the blue chairs” (you’ll get it when you see them), is the gay beach in Puerto Vallarta. It’s actually a pretty small beach, but with tons of people so the sandy real estate is primo. If you arrive too late in the day, you’ll have a hard time find a spot to lay your towel and during high season, you’ll definitely be squeezed in like sardines. Definitely waaay more men than women, but at least you won't get looked at twice as you rub each other with sunscreen.
Located a couple hundred metres south of Los Muertos Pier, at the foot of Francisca Rodriguez Street.
