Côté Sud
If you’re tired of tacos and ceviche, and hankering for a good old steak-frites, here’s the place to find it. Serving up traditional French cuisine by a gay couple from Marseille, Côté Sud is a longtime favorite with the local crowd. Located on the second floor, it’s also got the best balcony view of Olas Altas.

El Arrayán
A wonderful lesbian-owned and operated Mexican restaurant (the servers are super-cute!). What’s even better is that it’s run by a Mexican lesbian, one of the few such establishments in PV. An upscale eatery, El Arrayán is open for dinner only, and is located outside of the downtown core. You can walk it, but it’s a few blocks north-east of the Malecon.

Joe Jack’s Fish Shack
For some of the best Mexican-inspired fish recipes in town, you’ll definitely want to check out Joe Jack’s. To boot, their cocktails are inspired, from the ginger mojitos to their killer Mexitos (mojitos with tequila).

Planeta Vegetariano
As travelers to Mexico will tell you, it’s often difficult to find great tasting vegetarian and vegan food options…. until you stumble across Planeta Vegetariano. Offering an excellent buffet, this is one of the better veggie restaurants you’ll find anywhere, not just in Mexico. Freshly prepared foods, interesting takes on Mexican classics, affordable and all-you-can-eat, you won’t be disappointed.

Red Cabbage Café
It may be off the beaten path and hard to find, but Red Cabbage is worth the trip, serving authentic Mexican cuisine and the best fresh mole in town. It’s a teeny, tiny spot with fun (Frida Kahlo inspired) Mexican artwork, movie posters, news clippings and more on the walls, but what really shines at this woman-run eatery is the exceptional cuisine.
