Buddies in Bad Times Theatre
Toronto’s LGBT theatre is often referred to as Canada’s home for queer culture. Buddies presents some of the most audacious, challenging and inspiring (while totally professional) theatre in town. They also throw a great party every Friday and Saturday night with Tallulah’s Cabaret, a hip, homocore dance event.

Nightwood Theatre
This theatre is dedicated to producing, developing and touring some of the highest quality plays by Canadian women. They’ve taken chances over the years and come up with some real home runs. Their faith in writers like Ann-Marie MacDonald (of Fall on Your Knees fame) led to the creation of her award-winning play Good Night Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) before MacDonald made it big with her literature. Other highlights from Nightwood include The Groundswell Festival, which is Canada’s national play development program for new works by women and FemCab, Nightwood’s notorious annual celebration of International Women’s Day.

Pillow Fight League
Yup, you read it right. The Pillow Fight League. And these gals take their battles seriously. Gals being the key word here, as it’s a women-only sport of sorts that has seduced the lesbians. “Professional pillow fights are won via pinfall, surrender, or referee stoppage. If a pillow fight ends at the time limit with no winner, a winner is declared by a three-judge committee, using the traditional 10 point system. Pillow fighters are judged based on Style, Stamina, and the Eye of the Tiger.” You gotta see it to believe it.
Proud FM 103.9
Say “hello” to the world’s first commercial all-gay radio station. We’re not talking satellite or community radio here, this is all queer radio, all the time, on your regular FM dial. You’ve got your regular drive-in and drive-home shows, they just happen to be hosted by gays and lesbians. It’s talk, music and more.
