| Colombo Pride |
Jun 29 - Jul 6, 2008 |
Colombo, Sri Lanka |
Pride |
For those of us who live in Europe, North America or Australia, it's hard to imagine the courage needed by queers in Sri Lanka to hold their annual Pride celebrations. Homosexuality remains a criminal offense in Colombo, but that hasn't deterred the local queer rights organisation, Equal Ground, from organising this event. And what an event it is; despite the fact that only a few hundred people participate, there is still a small film festival, a dance and a celebratory party at the beach.
