Surprisingly enough, the Apollo Western Cup is the longest-running LGBT multi-sport competition in North America.  In Calgary!  In the middle of Canada's cowboy country!  Launched in 1981, up to 500 participants take part in six sports: badminton, bowling, curling, ice hockey, swimming and volleyball.

Eulevoto (European Lesbian Volleyball Tournament) Apr 2 - Apr 5, 2010 Groningen, Netherlands Sports
Europe's biggest lesbian volleyball tournament is held in different cities each year.  Gronigen, Netherlands is hosting the 2010 edition, and it's expected that up to 70 teams and 500 players from across Europe will participate.

This is the most important queer tennis competition in the United States with several hundred participants.  Taking place at the courts of Stanford University in Palo Alto, just south of San Francisco, there are tons of events just for women.
